Hurricane Matthew Relief
Kendra Luna, missionary in Haiti, and Clear Blue Board Member, experienced the power of Hurricane Matthew firsthand in Haiti. Pictured to the right is the storage container that was cleaned out for Kendra and others to pack into for refuge during the storm.
Close together, with little room and few resources, they survived the hurricane. When the reality of what happened during the storm was revealed, there was not much they could do but pray and start to rebuild. Here is Kendra’s most recent report:
“On top of a devastating hurricane destruction in the Southwest of Haiti, there are now multiple outbreaks of cholera. This starts when desperate people drink contaminated water. Cholera is such a fast moving disease if it is not treated immediately. People can die within 12 hours of first symptoms. It is highly contagious. It is happening in places that are still isolated by blocked roads and washed out bridges.”
Currently, Kendra is using tablets to purify gallons of water. Long term, they will need a clean water source to help them survive without illness and disease.
