A NEW REQUEST FROM JEN AND RYAN WILSON....
We have received updated quotes and are all set to work with Malawi Freshwater Project and Aquatech Masters on the completion of 10 new wells in Malawi. As you know from previous e-mails, we have requested and received $15,000 to date, and have approximately $3,405 remaining. In order to get started on the new wells we will have to pay 50% up front so it is important that we receive new money soon. These companies are ready to get started at any time.
The new cost for each of these wells is 900,000 Malawi Kwacha (at an exchange rate of approximately 140 that is about $6,425 each). The cost has increased sigficantly due to the fuel increase...we are up to $7.33 per gallon here and it is expected to go up another 25% at any time which makes it even more critical that we get as many of these done as soon as possible. In addition to money for these 10 new wells, we are requesting 1,184,390.42 Malawi Kwacha ($8,460) for a "gravity system" that will be put in Muloza, a village near Mt. Mulanje. Because it is in a mountainous area this type of water project is possible and preferrable...it involves a tank near a spring that will then connect clean, filtered water to 4 different water taps servicing even more people!
